Q. What does a Private Investigator (PI) do?
A. Generally speaking, a private investigator is hired to obtain information regarding the identity, habits, conduct, activity, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, associations, transactions, reputation, or character of any or group of persons. A private investigator may also conduct investigations regarding the credibility of witnesses; the whereabouts of missing persons; the location of missing persons; the location or recovery of lost or stolen property; and the causes and origin of- or responsibility for- fires, libels, or losses.

Q: What happens when I contact Platinum Investigation to initiate an assignment?
A. We will schedule your free consultation with one of our investigators at a location that is most convenient to you. During this free consultation, the investigator will review the specifics of the case, explain the investigative process, identify possible outcomes, and answer any questions. If you choose to hire Platinum Investigation to manage your case, a contract will be signed and a case manager will be assigned to you immediately.

Q: How am I kept up to date with the progress of investigations?
A: We provide regular reports to you so that you are informed of up to date progress and costs involved with each case. We are a people focused company and we highly value our one on one contact with clients.

Q: How can I be sure of the confidentiality of data I supply?
A: We are governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, S.C. (PIPEDA) January 1, 2004. and you can be sure that any information you supply us, and indeed anything uncovered in the process of the investigation, will be dealt with the utmost confidentiality.

Q: The matter to be investigated is a sensitive one – how can you help in this situation?
A: Not all matters have to end in a public trial, and if there is a special requirement for delicacy above and beyond our normal non-intrusive investigative approach, then we are more than happy to suggest ways to achieve this.

Q. What can I do to protect confidential company information?
A. You can conduct thorough background checks on your potential employees, especially if the position provides access to sensitive company information. Platinum Investigation can do this on your behalf as well as perform a risk analysis which will help pinpoint potential areas where confidentiality can be breached.

Q: How does your team conduct surveillance without being detected?
A: Platinum Investigation has more than 40 years of experience in surveillance, and we are experts at remaining inconspicuous at all times. While stationary surveillance can be carried out by one person, whenever there is a possibility of mobile surveillance, we use a minimum of two investigators and vehicles. All surveillance vehicles are equipped with digital two-way communication capabilities as well as state-of-the-art video and photograph equipment and navigation systems.

Q: How do you liaise with the Police when it comes to bringing a case to trial?
A: We present Police with a comprehensive evidence package that allows them to assess the evidence and present to the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute. As former Police Officers, we have years of experience preparing court ready evidence packages.
